Healthy foods with carotenes
(includes parsley, kale and tomato ketchup)
These colorful plants contain alpha and beta carotenes believed by many to play a role in helping prevent cancer, specifically those cancers involving the esophagus. A good number are low in calories, so are ideal for including in your weight loss regime.

Lycopene rich foods
(includes water melon, red bell peppers & tomato)

The nutrient lypcopene is a natural coloring compound and a member of the carotenid family. This chemical is accountable for the vivid red colour of a good number of food types.

Usefully, unlike many healthy agents, lycopene not only survives being cooked, but is truly enhanced by going through the cooking process.

. Lycoprene's main health contribution is that it is an antioxidant and seems to be of use in the battle to lower the chances of contracting cancer.

This useful phytochemical is the most efficacious quencher of singlet oxygen, which is linked with aging of the skin. It is also thought by many researchers to slow down the progression of atherosclerosis.

The Glycaemic Index Diet
The gi (or glycaemic index) weight loss regime is based on the glycaemic index, a list of food types and an indicator of the rapidity that the energy of the food type gets converted to sugar in your system. The claim is that slow acting foods (ie those with a low Glycaemic index score), keep you satisfied for a longer period of time and mean that you can eat fewer food without craving snacks all the time.
It is also extremely good for individuals with diabetes, as the low GI types of food are useful in managing increases in glucose levels.

"A good cook is the peculiar gift of the gods. He must be a perfect creature from the brain to the palate, from the palate to the finger's end.
"Walter Savage Landor"

"A diet is the penalty we pay for exceeding the feed limit."

"Reality check: you can never, ever, use weight loss to solve problems that are not related to your weight. At your goal weight or not, you still have to live with yourself and deal with your problems. You will still have the same husband, the same job, the same kids, and the same life. Losing weight is not a cure for life"
Phillip C. McGraw
