Foods containing allyl sulfides
( includes eschalot, leeks and green onion) The onion and garlic family is high in allyl sulphides, a chemical which experts believe may be linked to a reduced risk of stomach and colon cancer. Even though there is as yet, not enough scientific evidence obtainable, allyl sulfides are also thought by many researchers to reduce the symptoms of blood circulation, high blood pressure and insomnia. Foods containing allyl sulfides are low in calories, so should be a part of every diet system. The Zone Diet The Zone diet is a weight loss program initially devised by Barry Sears in a series of books. The Zone diet isn’t specifically a fat reduction diet, but many followers find that they actually lose weight by following this system. The scientific theory behind the Zone Diet is that if one can manage to limit the levels of insulin and glucogen (two hormones), then anti-inflammatory chemicals are released which, in turn puts your body in a state of equilibrium which is a lot more healthful than usual, which, not surprisingly, is known as 'the zone'. Sears claims that a body that is in 'the zone' is perfectly balanced and, as a result, doesn't need to convert surplus energy to fat. The most important process of the system is to keep tight control over the exact ratio of carbs to proteins, and to make sure your diet has increased levels of Omega 3 fish oils. |
