Diet types

The Glycaemic Index Diet
The glycaemic index nutrition and weight loss system is reliant on the gi (or glycaemic index), a list of foods and a score representing the ease with which the carbs in the food gets converted to glucose in your blood stream. The believe is that slow acting foods (ie those foods with a low Glycaemic score), suppress your appetite and help to reduce your intake of food without feeling hungry.
It's also extremely good for individuals with diabetes, as the low GI types of food are beneficial in reducing rises in glucose secretion.

The Zone Diet
The Zone diet is a nutrition and weight loss system initially detailed by Barry Sears in a series of books, publications and an associated website. The Zone diet isn’t particularly a fat reduction diet, however some people believe that they actually manage to lose a few pounds by following it.
The main scientific theory behind the Zone Diet is that if one can gain control of the amount of insulin and glucogen (two hormones), then your body releases eicosanoids which puts one's body in a balanced state that is more healthful than other diets, which, not surprisingly, is known as 'the zone'.
Sears states that if you get into this 'zone', your metabolism is much more efficient and, because of this, doesn't convert energy to unsightly fat.
The key method of the system is to control the exact ratio of carbs to proteins, and to ensure you get high levels of Omega 3 and omega 6.

"Reality check: you can never, ever, use weight loss to solve problems that are not related to your weight. At your goal weight or not, you still have to live with yourself and deal with your problems. You will still have the same husband, the same job, the same kids, and the same life. Losing weight is not a cure for life"
