Weight loss diets

The Zone Diet
The Zone diet is a nutrition and weight loss system initially invented by Barry Sears in a number of books, publications and an associated web site. The Zone diet is not specifically a fat reduction diet, however many zone diet fans discover that they really manage to lose body weight by following it.
The 'science' claimed for the Zone Diet is that if you can control the amount of two key hormones, (insulin and glucogen), then your body releases eicosanoids which, as a consequence puts your body in a state of balance which is an awful lot more healthy than other diets, which followers of the diet, refer to as '"he zone".
Sears alleges that if you get into this 'zone', your body is working at its best and, as a result, does not convert energy to unsightly fat.
The most important method of the zone system is to control the precise ratio of carbohydrates to proteins, and to dose yourself with plenty of Omega 3 fish oils.

The Atkins’ Diet
Now nearly 5 decades old, the atkins diet has been one of the most popular weight loss systms over the last few years. Although not accepted by all scientists, it enables fat reduction whilst encouraging you to eat many foods that are not normally available to dieters, for example lamb and cheeses.
With this diet you are encouraged to eat meat and fat, it is carbohydrates that need to be avoided. It is often referred to as a low carbohydrate/high protein, nutrition and weight loss system.
With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, including cereals and pasta made from white flour.
Unlike other diets, on the atkins diet the foods you are encouraged to eat are still nutrient-rich unprocessed foods such as meat, fish and, as a consequence, poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter and, as a consequence, olive oil.

The Glycaemic Index Diet
The gi (or glycaemic index) nutrition system is reliant on the gi index, a list of food types and an indicator of the ease with which the carbs in the food type gets transformed to glucose in the dieters bloodstream. The believe is that long-acting food types (ie those food types with a low Glycaemic index score), suppress your appetite for longer and mean that you can cut down on food without feeling hungry.
It's also extremeley effective for folk with diabetes, as the low GI types of food are helpful in preventing increases in glucose amount.

"A good cook is the peculiar gift of the gods. He must be a perfect creature from the brain to the palate, from the palate to the finger's end.

"A diet is the penalty we pay for exceeding the feed limit."

"Reality check: you can never, ever, use weight loss to solve problems that are not related to your weight. At your goal weight or not, you still have to live with yourself and deal with your problems. You will still have the same husband, the same job, the same kids, and the same life. Losing weight is not a cure for life"
