Diet information

The Zone Diet
The Zone diet is a diet first devised by Barry Sears in a series of books. The Zone diet isn’t expressly a weight reduction diet, although many zone diet followers find that they actually reduce a few pounds when following it.
The 'science' claimed for the Zone Diet is that if one can manage to limit the levels of two key hormones, (insulin and glucogen), then your body releases eicosanoids which, in turn puts one's body in a state of balance that is far more healthy than usual, which followers of the diet, refer to as '"he zone".
Sears claims that when your body is in this 'zone' it is much more efficient and, because of this, does not need to build up stores of fat.
The key technique of the diet is to keep tight control over the ratio of carbs to proteins, and to ensure you get large amounts of Omega 3 and omega 6.

The South Beach Diet
The South Beach diet is a diet created by Cardiologist arthur agatston which encourages that one should eat "good carbohydrates" instead of "bad carbohydrates" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats"
Doctor agatston invented his system for people who have cardiac problems, as a result of his analysis of scientific studies completed on other dietary studies.
Good foods include, lean cuts of beef, chicken breast, clams, cottage cheese, peanuts, nonfat milk and certain vegetables, like green beans, broccoli and sprouts.

"A good cook is the peculiar gift of the gods. He must be a perfect creature from the brain to the palate, from the palate to the finger's end.
"Walter Savage Landor"

"A diet is the penalty we pay for exceeding the feed limit."

"Reality check: you can never, ever, use weight loss to solve problems that are not related to your weight. At your goal weight or not, you still have to live with yourself and deal with your problems. You will still have the same husband, the same job, the same kids, and the same life. Losing weight is not a cure for life"
Phillip C. McGraw
