The low calorie diet
In short, a low calorie weight loss regime is based on the fact that if you plan to get rid of some fat, then you have to eat fewer calories than your body requires. Definition of a calorie? The calorie is a unit for measuring food's ability to produce heat and energy. The calorie is the the amount of energy required to raise the temperature of 1 gram of water by 1 degree centigrade at atmospheric pressure. If a food has more calories, then it will gives you more energy to use when consumed. Low-cal food types include celery, carrots, watermelon, beef, and bamboo shoots. The Glycaemic Index Diet The gi index weight loss program is based around the gi (or glycaemic index), a list showing types of food and an indicator of the speed with which the glucose and energy in the food gets converted to sugar in your system. The theory is that long-acting food types (ie those with a low Gi number), suppress your appetite and help to take in less food without feeling you are always hungry. It is also especially beneficial for people with diabetes, as the low GI food types are helpful in reducing rises in blood glucose levels. Foods containing allyl sulfides ( includes eschalot, chives and green onion) The onion range of vegetables is high in allyl sulfides, a chemical which experts believe may be linked to a reduced risk of stomach and colon cancer. Although there is very little definitive proof obtainable, allyl sulphides are also believed to help with antiinflammatory effect, arteriosclerosis and fatigue. Foods containing allyl sulfides are also low in calories, so make sure you add them to your diet. |
