The Zone Diet The Zone diet is a weight loss program first advocated by Barry Sears in a number of books, publications and an associated web site. The Zone diet is not specifically a fat reduction diet, however some people discover that they really manage to lose a few pounds by following it. The theory behind the Zone Diet is that if you gain control of the amount of the hormones 'insulin' and 'glucogen', then your body releases eicosanoids (anti-inflamatory chemicals) which puts one's body in a balanced state which is far more healthy than usual, this is referred to as 'the zone'. The key process of the zone system is to maintain the exact ratio of carbohydrates to proteins, and to ensure your diet has large amounts of Omega 6 and omega 3 fish oils. |
