The South Beach Diet
The South Beach diet is a diet plan started by Miami, florida-area cardiologist arthur agatston which stresses that one should eat "good carbohydrates" instead of "bad carbohydrates" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats"
Agatston invented his weight loss system as an aid to patients with heart conditions, as a result of his detailed analysis of scientific data completed on other diets.
Approved foods include, broiled ham, chicken breast, shellfish, fat free cheese, peanut butter, eggs and certain vegetables, such as black beans, broccoli and water chestnuts.

Foods containing allyl sulfides
( includes pickled shallots, white onions and green onion)

The onion and garlic family of vegetables is rich in allyl sulfides, a chemical which experts believe might be linked to a reduced risk of stomach and colon cancer.
Although there is as yet, not enough scientific evidence present, allyl sulfides are also believed to reduce problems with antiinflammatory effect, high blood pressure and insomnia.

Foods containing allyl sulfides are low in calories, so should be included in every weight loss regime.

"A good cook is the peculiar gift of the gods. He must be a perfect creature from the brain to the palate, from the palate to the finger's end.

"A diet is the penalty we pay for exceeding the feed limit."

"Reality check: you can never, ever, use weight loss to solve problems that are not related to your weight. At your goal weight or not, you still have to live with yourself and deal with your problems. You will still have the same husband, the same job, the same kids, and the same life. Losing weight is not a cure for life"
Phillip C. McGraw
