Types of diet

The Atkins’ Diet
Although it originated back in the 1960s, the atkins diet has been one of the most popular weight loss systems over the last few years. Having many well known film stars amongst its supporters, it claims to allow weight loss but still allows you to eat foods that are normally considered bad for diets, like lamb and butter.
With the atkins diet you are supposed to eat fat and protein, avoiding carbohydrates almost completely. It is often referred to as a low carbohydrate, high protein, nutrition system.
With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, including cereals and pasta made from white flour.
With this diet the foods you are encouraged to eat are still nutrient-rich unprocessed foods such as meat, fish and, as a consequence, poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter and olive oil.

The South Beach Diet
The South Beach diet is a weight loss system invented by Miami-based cardiologist arthur agatston which stresses the consumption of "good carbs" instead of "bad carbs" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats"
Dr. agatston developed his weight loss system for his cardiac patients, as a result of his analysis of scientific research completed on other weight loss systems.
"good" foods include, veal cutlets, skinless poultry, clams, cottage cheese, peanut butter, lowfat yoghurt and some vegatables, such as asparagus, lettuce and spinach.

The Glycaemic Index Diet
The glycaemic index diet is linked to the glycaemic index, a list showing foods and a score representing the ease with which the energy in the food type gets transformed to glucose in your system. The believe is that long-acting types of food (ie with a low Gi number), suppress your appetite for longer and mean that you can reduce your consumption of food without craving snacks all the time.
It's also very good for folk with diabetes, as the low GI foods are helpful in preventing rises in glucose amount.

"A good cook is the peculiar gift of the gods. He must be a perfect creature from the brain to the palate, from the palate to the finger's end.
"Walter Savage Landor"

"A diet is the penalty we pay for exceeding the feed limit."

"Reality check: you can never, ever, use weight loss to solve problems that are not related to your weight. At your goal weight or not, you still have to live with yourself and deal with your problems. You will still have the same husband, the same job, the same kids, and the same life. Losing weight is not a cure for life"
Phillip C. McGraw
