The Zone Diet
The Zone diet is a diet first invented by Barry Sears in a series of books. The Zone diet is not distinctly a weight loss diet, but many followers believe that they actually manage to lose weight when following it. The theory behind the Zone Diet is that if you can control the amount of insulin and glucogen (both hormones), then anti-inflammatory chemicals are released which puts the body in a balanced state which is far more healthful than other diets, this is referred to as 'the zone'. Sears holds the theory that when in the 'zone', your body is working at its best and, as a consequence, does not need to convert surplus energy to fat. The main technique of the zone diet is to maintain the precise ratio of carbs to proteins, and to make sure your diet has plenty of Omega 3 and omega 6. Cauliflower, Watercress, Tatsoi and Rutabaga) These cruciferous vegetables are jam-packed with vitamins (folate and vitamin c, for example), minerals (eg. potassium and selenium), chlorophyll, fibre, indole-3-carbinol and isothiocyanates..
