The Zone Diet
The Zone diet is a diet initially devised by Barry Sears in a number of books, publications and an accompanying website. The Zone diet isn’t distinctly a fat reduction diet, but many followers find that they really lose body weight by following it.
The supposed science behind the Zone Diet is that if you gain control of the levels of insulin and glucogen (two hormones), then your body releases eicosanoids (anti-inflamatory chemicals) which puts your body in a balanced state which is an awful lot more wholesome than normal, this is referred to as 'the zone'.
Sears alleges that when your body is in this 'zone' it is working at its most efficient and, as a consequence, doesn't build up fat.
The key method of the diet is to control the exact ratio of carbohydrates to proteins, and to make sure your diet has plenty of Omega 6 and omega 3 fish oils.
