The Atkins’ Diet
Originating way back in the 1960s, the atkins diet is still widely used today. Although highly controversial, it allows fat reduction whilst still eating many foods that would not be part of a normal diet, like meat and cheeses.
On the atkins diet you eat protein and fat, avoiding carbohydrates almost completely. It is often referred to as a low carbohydrate, high protein, diet system.
With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, amongst them, cereals and pasta made from white flour.
On the atkins diet the foods you are encouraged to eat are nutrient-rich unprocessed foods such as meat, fish and poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter and olive oil.

The Atkins’ Diet Theory
The controversial theory behind the atkins diet is that if we take in less carbohydrates, we will consume our fat and we will lose weight

The Zone Diet
The Zone diet is a diet system first created by Barry Sears in a number of books, publications and an associated web site. The Zone diet is not expressly a fat reduction diet, but many 'zone dieters' claim that they actually seem to lose a few pounds by following it.
The main theory behind the Zone Diet is that if you can gain control of the levels of the hormones 'insulin' and 'glucogen', then your body releases eicosanoids which, as a result puts the body in a state of equilibrium that is an awful lot more healthful than usual, which, not surprisingly, is known as 'the zone'.
Sears believes that a body that is in 'the zone' is much more efficient and, as a result, doesn't need to build up stores of fat.
The most valuable procedure of the zone system is to maintain the exact ratio of carbohydrates to proteins, and to take high levels of Omega 3 and omega 6.

The brassicas, Super foods that also help with your Weight loss
(eg. Cauliflower, Cabbage, Tatsoi and Daikon)
Members of the brassica family are packed with vitamins (eg.folate), minerals (eg. potassium and selenium), fibre, chlorophyll, antioxidents and isothiocyanates.

In addition to their many other healthy effects, the vitamins and nutrients in these are believed by doctors to help reduce the cancer risk.

"A good cook is the peculiar gift of the gods. He must be a perfect creature from the brain to the palate, from the palate to the finger's end.
"Walter Savage Landor"

"A diet is the penalty we pay for exceeding the feed limit."

"Reality check: you can never, ever, use weight loss to solve problems that are not related to your weight. At your goal weight or not, you still have to live with yourself and deal with your problems. You will still have the same husband, the same job, the same kids, and the same life. Losing weight is not a cure for life"
Phillip C. McGraw
