The Recipe Instructions

Ingredients

1 1/3 cup tea concentrate (qv)
1 cinnamon stick, 2 long
1 orange peel (colored part)
2 1/3 cup water, sparkling =to=-
1/2 cup orange juice or tangerine juice con, centrate, thawed

Directions

Combine tea concentrate, orange peel and cinnamon stick in a saucepan and
bring to a boil. Cover and chill until cold, about 1 hour. Discard orange
peel and cinnamon stick and combine with sparkling water. To make liquid
layers, pour thawed orange juice into bottom of each glass, then gently
pour in tea concentrate. Stir before sipping. (Or, dilute the concentrate
to strength, and pour the tea onto a spoon resting right on the surface of
the juice layer. The spoon breaks up the vertical motion of the incoming
liquid and helps keep the layers separate.) Source: Sunset Magazine: August

Weight loss systems

The Atkins’ Diet
Although it originated back in the 1960s, the popular atkins diet has been one of the most popular weight loss systems over the last few years. Although highly controversial, it allows weight loss but still allows you to eat many foods that would not be part of a normal diet, such as beef and butter.
Unlike other diets, on the atkins diet you are supposed to eat fat and protein, avoiding carbohydrates almost completely. It is referred to as a low carbohydrate/high protein, nutrition system.
With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, including cereals and pasta made from white flour.
With the atkins diet the foods you are encouraged to eat continues to be nutrient-rich unprocessed foods such as meat, fish and poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter and, as a consequence, olive oil.

The Zone Diet
The Zone diet is a nutrition system initially advocated by Barry Sears in a series of books. The Zone diet is not specifically a weight reduction diet, but many 'zone dieters' believe that they really seem to lose a few pounds by following it.
The 'science' claimed for the Zone Diet is that if you gain control of the amount of insulin and glucogen (two hormones produced naturally by your body), then anti-inflammatory chemicals are released which, in turn puts one's body in a state of balance that is far more healthful than other diets, which, not surprisingly, is known as 'the zone'.
Sears alleges that when your body is in this 'zone' it is working at its most efficient and, as a result, doesn't build up layers of fat.
The main procedure of the zone diet is to maintain the precise ratio of carbs to proteins, and to ensure you get high levels of Omega 6 and omega 3 fish oils.

The South Beach Diet
The South Beach diet is a diet system invented by Cardiologist arthur agatston which encourages that dieters should be eating "good carbs" instead of "bad carbohydrates" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats"
Doctor agatston invented his weight loss regime as an aid to patients with heart conditions, as a consequence of his detailed study of scientific studies on other weight loss studies.
Examples of good foods include, veal cutlets, turkey breast, shrimp, ricotta cheese, pecan halves, nonfat yoghurt and certain vegetables, such as black beans, celery and snow peas.

"A good cook is the peculiar gift of the gods. He must be a perfect creature from the brain to the palate, from the palate to the finger's end.
"Walter Savage Landor"

"A diet is the penalty we pay for exceeding the feed limit."

"Reality check: you can never, ever, use weight loss to solve problems that are not related to your weight. At your goal weight or not, you still have to live with yourself and deal with your problems. You will still have the same husband, the same job, the same kids, and the same life. Losing weight is not a cure for life"
Phillip C. McGraw
