The Zone diet is a weight loss regime initially detailed by Barry Sears in a series of books, publications and an associated website. The Zone diet isn’t expressly a weight loss diet, nevertheless many zone diet fans find that they actually seem to lose a few pounds when following it. The 'science' claimed for the Zone Diet is that if one can control the amount of two key hormones, (insulin and glucogen), then anti-inflammatory chemicals are released which, in turn puts your body in a balanced state which is more healthful than it normally is, known as the 'zone'. Sears states that if you get into this 'zone', your metabolism is much more efficient and, because of this, does not build up fat. The most valuable procedure of the zone diet is to maintain the ratio of carbohydrates to proteins, and to dose yourself with plenty of Omega 6 and omega 3 fish oils. The brassica family, Super foods that also help your Dieting (examples: Kale, Bok choy, Turnip greens and Napa) Altthough not always popular with children, these vegetables are packed with vitamins (eg.folate), minerals (eg. selenium), chlorophyll, fibre, indole-3-carbinol and isothiocyanates..
