The Atkins’ Diet
Although it originated back in the 1960s, the atkins diet has been one of the most popular weight loss systems over the last few years. Popular with many famous celebrities, it allows fat reduction whilst allowing you to eat many foods that are not normally available to dieters, such as lamb and some dairy produce.
Unlike other diets, on the atkins diet you are encouraged to eat meat and fat, it is the carbs that must be avoided. Because of this, it is known as a low carbohydrate/high protein, weight loss regime.
With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, amongst them, cereals and pasta made from white flour.
With the atkins diet the foods you are encouraged to eat are still nutrient-rich unprocessed foods such as meat, fish & poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter and olive oil.

The Zone Diet
The Zone diet is a weight loss program initially suggested by Barry Sears in a series of books and publications. The Zone diet isn’t exactly a weight loss diet, however many people discover that they really reduce weight by following the zone diet.
The supposed science behind the Zone Diet is that if you can control the amount of insulin and glucogen (two hormones produced naturally by your body), then your body releases eicosanoids (anti-inflamatory chemicals) which, as a result puts your body in a state of balance that is much, much more healthy than usual, which, not surprisingly, is known as 'the zone'.
Sears states that when your body is in this 'zone' it is working at its most efficient and, because of this, does not build up layers of fat.
The most valuable method of the system is to control the exact ratio of carbs to proteins, and to ensure your diet has increased amounts of Omega 3 and omega 6.

Superfoods rich in flavonoids
(inlcudes citrus fruits, asparagus, lima bean & tea)

The flavonoids found in these fruit, vegetables and pulses are thought by nutritionalists to have properties in helping to prevent cancer.
Specialists researching the nutritional effects of flavonoids believe they may well also have most other benefits to our health, including anti-dermatitis and antitumor properties.
The majority of these are also low in calories, so should be included in every diet.

"A good cook is the peculiar gift of the gods. He must be a perfect creature from the brain to the palate, from the palate to the finger's end.
"Walter Savage Landor"

"A diet is the penalty we pay for exceeding the feed limit."

"Reality check: you can never, ever, use weight loss to solve problems that are not related to your weight. At your goal weight or not, you still have to live with yourself and deal with your problems. You will still have the same husband, the same job, the same kids, and the same life. Losing weight is not a cure for life"
Phillip C. McGraw
