Ingredients
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips - (6 oz)
3 tbsp low-fat (1%) milk
2 tbsp unsalted butter
1 cup sugar
3 eggs
1 cup whole-wheat flour
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 tsp baking soda
2 cup chilled coffee
Directions
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Coat a 9- by 13-inch baking dish with
nonstick cooking spray. In a small saucepan, melt the chocolate chips in
the milk over low heat; set aside.
In a large bowl, beat the butter and sugar until creamy. Add the eggs one
at a time, mixing well after each addition. Add the chocolate mixture; mix
until thoroughly combined. Add the whole-wheat and all-purpose flours,
the baking soda, and coffee; continue beating until well combined.
Pour the batter into the baking dish and bake for 22 to 25 minutes, or
until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow to cool
completely, then cut into squares and serve.

Comments: Can the words "chocolate" and "spa" be used in the same
sentence? Of course, they can! And topping each serving with a spoonful
of light whipped topping or low-fat yogurt and some fresh strawberries,
raspberries, or kiwifruit slices can be, well, the icing on the cake!

Foods containing allyl sulfides
( includes pickled shallots, white onions and green onion) The onion and garlic family of vegetables is rich in allyl sulfides, a chemical which experts believe could be linked to a reduced risk of stomach and colon cancer. Although there is insufficient scientific evidence at hand, allyl sulfides are also thought by many researchers to aid in colds, sterilization and diabetes. Foods containing allyl sulfides are also low in calories, so make sure you add them to your weight loss regime. Foods high in flavonoids (inlcudes olive oil, brussels sprouts, soya & peppermint) The flavonoids which are present in these fruit and vegetables are thought by nutritionalists to have properties as cancer fighters. Experts investigating the nutritional effects of flavonoids think they may also have many benefits to our health, including anti-allergic and antitumor properties. The majority of these also have a low calorie count, so should be a part of every diet system. |
