The Zone Diet
The Zone diet is a diet system initially created by Barry Sears in a number of books and publications. The Zone diet is not specifically a fat reduction diet, nevertheless many people discover that they really manage to lose body weight by following it. The main theory behind the Zone Diet is that if one can limit the amount of two important hormones, (insulin and glucogen), then your body releases eicosanoids which puts the body in a state of balance which is far more healthy than usual, which is known as the zone. Sears holds the theory that a body that is in 'the zone' is working at its best and, as a consequence, doesn't convert energy to unsightly fat. The most interesting technique of the system is to keep tight control over the exact ratio of carbohydrates to proteins, and to dose yourself with high levels of Omega 6 and omega 3 fish oils. The Atkins’ Diet Although it originated back in the 1960s, the atkins diet has been one of the most popular weight loss systems over the last few years. Although not accepted by all scientists, it enables weight reduction whilst still eating many of the foods you love, like bacon and some dairy produce. On the atkins diet you eat protein and fat, it is the carbs that must be avoided. It is often referred to as a low carbohydrate, high protein, diet system. With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, including, but not limited to, cereals and pasta made from white flour. Unlike other diets, on the atkins diet the foods you are encouraged to eat continues to be nutrient-rich unprocessed foods such as meat, fish & poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter & olive oil. The Atkins’ Diet Theory The 'science' behind the atkins diet is that if we take in fewer carbohydrates, our bodies will use the fat we already carry and we will reduce weight Foods containing lycopene (includes water melon, red peppers and tomato) The nutrient lypcopene is a natural coloring compound and a member of the same family of phytochemicals as carotene. It is the reason for the red hue of quite a few fruits and vegetables. Fortunately, unlike most other nutrients, it not only survives being cooked, but is in fact improved by the cooking process. . Its most important value is that it acts as an antioxidant and is thought to be of use in the battle to lower the risks of developing cancer. It is the most powerful eliminator of singlet oxygen, which is correlated with aging of the skin. It is also thought by many researchers to slow down the progression of diseases affecting arterial blood vessels. |
