(includes water melon, red peppers and tomato)

The phytochemical lycopene is a naturally occurring pigment and one of the same group of phytochemicals as carotene. It is the agent responsible for the deep red hue of a good number of types of food.

Fortunately, unlike many other nutritional compounds, lycopene does not degrade if cooked, rather it is noticeably improved by being cooked.

. Its most valuable advantage is that it behaves as an antioxidant and seems to be an asset in the battle to reduce the risks of developing cancer.

The Atkins’ Diet
Developed by dr. robert atkins in the 1960s, the famous atkins diet is still one of the most popular diets today. Although highly controversial, it claims to allow fat reduction whilst allowing you to eat many foods that would not be part of a normal diet, like meat and hard cheese.
With the atkins diet you are encouraged to eat meat and fat, avoiding carbohydrates almost completely. It is referred to as a low carbohydrate/high protein, diet system.
With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, including, but not limited to, cereals and pasta made from white flour.
On the atkins diet the foods you are encouraged to eat are still nutrient-rich unprocessed foods like meat, fish and poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter & olive oil.

The Atkins’ Diet Theory
The controversial theory behind the atkins diet is that if we take in fewer carbs, our bodies will use our stored fat and we will diet successfully

"A good cook is the peculiar gift of the gods. He must be a perfect creature from the brain to the palate, from the palate to the finger's end.

"A diet is the penalty we pay for exceeding the feed limit."

"Reality check: you can never, ever, use weight loss to solve problems that are not related to your weight. At your goal weight or not, you still have to live with yourself and deal with your problems. You will still have the same husband, the same job, the same kids, and the same life. Losing weight is not a cure for life"
