Diet informationThe Zone Diet The Zone diet is a nutrition and weight loss system primarily detailed by Barry Sears in a series of books and publications. The Zone diet isn’t expressly a weight reduction diet, nevertheless many 'zone dieters' believe that they actually reduce weight by following the zone diet. The science behind the Zone Diet is that if one can control the amount of two key hormones, (insulin and glucogen), then your body releases eicosanoids (anti-inflamatory chemicals) which, as a consequence puts your body in a state of balance which is a lot more healthy than normal, which is known as the zone. Sears states that if you get into this 'zone', your body is working at its best and, because of this, does not convert energy to unsightly fat. The main method of the system is to maintain the ratio of carbohydrates to proteins, and to take plenty of Omega 3 fish oils. The South Beach Diet The South Beach diet is a weight loss system created by Dr. arthur agatston, a cardiologist from miami, usa, which encourages that one should consume "good carbs" instead of "bad carbohydrates" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats" Dr. agatston invented this diet as an aid to patients with heart conditions, as a consequence of his detailed analysis of scientific studies completed on other dietary studies. Approved foods include, lean beef, skinless poultry, shellfish, ricotta cheese, pistachio nuts, nonfat milk and some vegatables, like black beans, celery and mushrooms. The Atkins’ Diet Although it originated back in the 1960s, the atkins diet has been one of the most popular weight loss systms over the last few years. Although highly controversial, it supposedly allows fat reduction whilst allowing foods that are normally considered bad for diets, for example pork and cheeses. Unlike other diets, with the atkins diet it is considered good to eat fat and protein, it is the carbs that must be avoided. It is referred to as a low carbohydrate, high protein, diet. With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, including cereals and pasta made from white flour. With this diet the foods you are encouraged to eat continues to be nutrient-rich unprocessed foods like meat, fish and, as a result, poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter and olive oil. |
