Weight loss diets

The Zone Diet
The Zone diet is a diet initially detailed by Barry Sears in a number of books, publications and an associated web site. The Zone diet is not particularly a fat reduction diet, however many zone diet fans find that they really reduce a few pounds by following the zone diet.
The main theory of the Zone Diet is that if one can manage to control the amount of two important hormones, (insulin and glucogen), then your body releases eicosanoids (anti-inflamatory chemicals) which, as a consequence puts one's body in a state of equilibrium which is much more healthy than other diets, which followers of the diet, refer to as '"he zone".
Sears alleges that if you get into this 'zone', your body is much more efficient and, as a result, doesn't build up layers of fat.
The most important process of the zone diet is to keep tight control over the exact ratio of carbs to proteins, and to make sure your diet has increased levels of Omega 6 and omega 3 fish oils.

The Atkins’ Diet
Originating way back in the 1960s, the atkins diet achieved most of its fame during the last few years. Having many well known film stars amongst its supporters, it claims to allow fat reduction whilst allowing you to eat many foods that would not be part of a normal diet, such as bacon and eggs.
Unlike other diets, on the atkins diet you are supposed to eat fat and protein, avoiding carbohydrates almost completely. It is often referred to as a low carbohydrate, high protein, diet.
With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, including cereals and pasta made from white flour.
With this diet the foods you are encouraged to eat continues to be nutrient-rich unprocessed foods like meat, fish and poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter and olive oil.

The Atkins’ Diet Theory
The theory of the atkins diet is that if we reduce your intake of carbs, our bodies will deplete the fat we have stored and we will reduce weight

The Glycaemic Index Diet
The gi (or glycaemic index) nutrition and weight loss system is based on the gi index, a list showing food types and a score representing the speed that the glucose of the food gets changed to glucose in your bloodstream. The theory is that long-acting types of food (ie those with a low Gi score), will keep you feeling full for longer and help you to reduce your consumption of food without starving yourself.
It's also very efficient for people with diabetes, as the low GI food types are helpful in controlling increases in glucose amount.

"A good cook is the peculiar gift of the gods. He must be a perfect creature from the brain to the palate, from the palate to the finger's end.

"A diet is the penalty we pay for exceeding the feed limit."

"Reality check: you can never, ever, use weight loss to solve problems that are not related to your weight. At your goal weight or not, you still have to live with yourself and deal with your problems. You will still have the same husband, the same job, the same kids, and the same life. Losing weight is not a cure for life"
