Ingredients
3 tbsp oil
1 lb boneless chicken, cut into
1 strips
1/2 cup broccoli florets
2 oz snow peas, (about 1/2 cup)
1 medium carrot, thinly sliced
1/2 medium red or green pepper, cut
1 into thin strips
1 envelope onion soup mix
1 tsp cornstarch
1/2 tsp ground ginger
1 1/2 cup water
2 tsp soy sauce
1 tsp white or rice vinegar
1 hot cooked rice
Directions
In large skillet, heat oil and cook chicken with vegetables over
medium-high heat, stirring constantly, 10 minutes or until chicken is
golden and vegetables are crisp-tender. Thoroughly blend onion soup mix,
cornstarch, ginger, water, soy sauce and vinegar; stir into chicken
mixture. Bring to a boil, then simmer uncovered 5 minutes or until sauce
is thickened. Serve over hot rice and garnish, if desired, with sliced
green onion and toasted sesame seeds.

Types of dietThe South Beach Diet The South Beach diet is a diet started by Florida-based cardiologist arthur agatston which encourages that one should eat "good carbohydrates" instead of "bad carbohydrates" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats" Agatston invented this diet for people who have cardiac problems, as a result of his analysis of scientific data completed on other nutritional studies. Good foods include, lean beef, turkey bacon, oysters, mozzarella cheese, almonds, nonfat yoghurt and certain vegetables, such as butter beans, collard greens and turnips. The Glycaemic Index Diet The glycaemic index nutrition system is linked to the gi (or glycaemic index), a chart showing food types and a score illustrating the ease that the carbs in the food type gets transformed to glucose in the dieters blood stream. The believe is that slow acting types of food (ie those with a low Gi score), suppress your appetite and help you to reduce your intake of food without feeling hungry. It's also extremely beneficial for diabetes sufferers, as the low GI food types are useful in preventing surges in blood sugar levels. The Zone Diet The Zone diet is a nutrition and weightloss system primarily suggested by Barry Sears in a number of books. The Zone diet is not particularly a fat reduction diet, but some people claim that they manage to lose weight by following it. The 'science' behind the Zone Diet is that if you can control the amount of two key hormones, (insulin and glucogen), then your body releases eicosanoids (anti-inflamatory chemicals) which, as a consequence puts your body in a state of equilibrium which is much more wholesome than it normally is, which followers of the diet, refer to as '"he zone". Sears holds the theory that when your body is in this 'zone' it is much more efficient and, as a consequence, doesn't convert energy to unsightly fat. The most important process of the zone system is to maintain the ratio of carbohydrates to proteins, and to take increased amounts of Omega 3 fish oils. |
