Weight loss dietsThe Atkins’ Diet Originating way back in the 1960s, the atkins diet has been one of the most popular weight loss systms over the last few years. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter and, as a result, olive oil. The Zone Diet The Zone diet is a diet first devised by Barry Sears in a series of books, publications and an associated web site. The Zone diet is not particularly a fat reduction diet, but many followers discover that they manage to lose a few pounds by following it. The science behind the Zone Diet is that if you can control the secretion of the hormones 'insulin' and 'glucogen', then your body releases eicosanoids (anti-inflamatory chemicals) which puts your body in a balanced state which is much more healthful than usual, this is referred to as 'the zone'. Sears believes that a body that is in 'the zone' is perfectly balanced and, as a consequence, does not need to convert surplus energy to fat. The key technique of the zone diet is to monitor and control the precise ratio of carbs to proteins, and to ensure your diet has increased levels of Omega 3 fish oils. The South Beach Diet The South Beach diet is a diet plan invented by Miami, florida-area cardiologist arthur agatston which stresses that one should consume "good carbohydrates" instead of "bad carbs" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats" Agatston developed his system for people who have heart disease, based on his analysis of scientific data on other weight loss systems. "good" foods include, lean cuts of beef, skinless poultry, fish and shellfish, cottage cheese, pecan halves, lowfat or nonfat milk and some vegatables, such as artichokes, collard greens and snow peas. |
