Weight loss systemsThe South Beach Diet The South Beach diet is a diet system created by Miami-based cardiologist arthur agatston which emphasizes that dieters should eat "good carbohydrates" instead of "bad carbohydrates" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats" Dr. agatston developed his system as an aid to patients with heart conditions, as a consequence of his analysis of scientific research completed on other diets. Approved foods include, broiled ham, chicken breast, clams, provolone cheese, peanuts, eggs and some vegatables, like split peas, celery and mushrooms. The Glycaemic Index Diet The glycaemic index nutrition system is linked to the gi (or glycaemic index), a chart showing food types and an indicator of the ease that the carbohydrates of the food gets transformed to glucose in the dieters system. The theory is that slow acting food types (ie those food types with a low Gi number), keep you feeling full longer and mean that you can reduce your intake of food without starving yourself. It's also extremely effective for individuals with diabetes, as the low GI food types are beneficial in minimizing surges in blood glucose secretion. |
