A low calorie weight loss regime

Rather obviously, a low calorie weight loss regime is based on the fact that if you want to get rid of some fat, it is essential to take in fewer calories than your body requires.

So what is a calorie?
A calorie is a measurement of the energy provided by food. The calorie is the the amount of energy required to raise the temperature of 1 gram of water by 1 degree centigrade at atmospheric pressure. If a food has more calories, then it will provide your body with a larger amount of energy when your body digests it.

Examples of low calorie foods include broccoli, swede, grapefruit, low fat hot-dogs, and skimmed milk.


The South Beach Diet
The South Beach diet is a diet invented by Miami-based cardiologist arthur agatston which stresses that one should eat "good carbohydrates" instead of "bad carbohydrates" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats"
Doctor agatston invented his weight loss regime for people who have heart disease, as a result of his analysis of scientific research completed on other nutritional studies.
Examples of good foods include, veal cutlets, skinless poultry, oysters, provolone cheese, pecan halves, eggs and some vegatables, like butter beans, cauliflower and spinach.

(eg. Kale, Lettuce, Turnips and Radishes)
Known as cruciferous vegetables, these are rich in vitamins (eg.folate), minerals (selenium and potassium, for example), chlorophyll, fibre, indole-3-carbinol and isothiocyanates..

Over and above their many great health giving properties, some of these nutrients are believed by nutritionalists to help reduce the cancer risk.
