Description:
"This sounds a lot fancier than it is. A handful of dried porcini
mushrooms -- available in most supermarkets -- and a little white wine
are all it takes to transform everyday chicken stew into a meal fit
for company."

Diet types

The Glycaemic Index Diet
The gi index nutrition system is based on the glycaemic index, a list showing food types and an indicator of the ease that the glucose in the food type gets converted to glucose in the dieters body. The believe is that slow release food types (ie those foods with a low Gi score), will keep you feeling full for longer and help you to reduce your consumption of food without craving snacks all the time.
It's also extremely beneficial for people with diabetes, as the low GI foods are helpful in reducing rises in glucose levels.

The South Beach Diet
The South Beach diet is a diet invented by Cardiologist arthur agatston which stresses that one should consume "good carbs" instead of "bad carbohydrates" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats"
Doctor agatston invented his system for people who have heart disease, based on his analysis of scientific research completed on other weight loss regimes.
Examples of good foods include, broiled ham, chicken breast, shrimp, mozzarella cheese, peanut butter, lowfat yoghurt and some vegatables, such as green beans, eggplant and spinach.

The Zone Diet
The Zone diet is a nutrition and weight loss system first suggested by Barry Sears in a number of books, publications and an accompanying website. The Zone diet is not exactly a weight loss diet, although many zone diet fans find that they seem to lose body weight by following it.
The 'science' claimed for the Zone Diet is that if one can manage to gain control of the levels of insulin and glucogen (both hormones), then your body releases eicosanoids (anti-inflamatory chemicals) which puts one's body in a balanced state that is much more wholesome than usual, this is referred to as 'the zone'.
Sears claims that if you get into this 'zone', your body is much more efficient and, because of this, doesn't build up layers of fat.
The most important procedure of the diet is to keep tight control over the ratio of carbohydrates to proteins, and to dose yourself with increased levels of Omega 3 fish oils.

"A good cook is the peculiar gift of the gods. He must be a perfect creature from the brain to the palate, from the palate to the finger's end.

"A diet is the penalty we pay for exceeding the feed limit."

"Reality check: you can never, ever, use weight loss to solve problems that are not related to your weight. At your goal weight or not, you still have to live with yourself and deal with your problems. You will still have the same husband, the same job, the same kids, and the same life. Losing weight is not a cure for life"
