Foods high in flavonoids
(inlcudes onion, cabbage, garden pea & peppermint)

The nutrients called 'flavonoids' which exist in these natural foods show promise in fighting cancer.
Doctors researching the nutritional effects of flavonoids believe they could also have most other health giving properties, including anti-allergic and antiplatelet activities..
Many are low in calories, so are ideal for including in your diet.

Foods containing carotenes
(includes cilantro, collard greens and tomato puree)
These orange and green healthy superfoods contain carotenes (alpha and beta) believed by scientists to play a role in cancer prevention, specifically those cancers involving the stomach and lesophagus. A good number also have a low calorie count, so should be a part of every weight loss program.

The Zone Diet
The Zone diet is a diet initially devised by Barry Sears in a number of books, publications and an associated web site. The Zone diet is not exactly a fat reduction diet, however many zone diet followers claim that they really manage to lose weight by following it.
The main scientific theory behind the Zone Diet is that if one can control the levels of insulin and glucogen (both hormones), then your body releases eicosanoids which, in turn puts your body in a state of balance which is much, much more healthy than usual, known as the 'zone'.
Sears states that if you get into this 'zone', your body is working at its best and, as a result, does not build up fat.
The main method of the zone system is to keep tight control over the exact ratio of carbohydrates to proteins, and to dose yourself with plenty of Omega 3 and omega 6.

"A good cook is the peculiar gift of the gods. He must be a perfect creature from the brain to the palate, from the palate to the finger's end.

"A diet is the penalty we pay for exceeding the feed limit."

"Reality check: you can never, ever, use weight loss to solve problems that are not related to your weight. At your goal weight or not, you still have to live with yourself and deal with your problems. You will still have the same husband, the same job, the same kids, and the same life. Losing weight is not a cure for life"
