Types of diet

The Glycaemic Index Diet
The glycaemic index nutrition and weight loss system is linked to the gi index, a chart showing food types and a score representing the ease that the glucose of the food type gets transformed to glucose in your blood stream. The theory is that slow acting types of food (ie those foods with a low Gi score), keep you satiated for longer and help you to eat less food without feeling you are always hungry.
It's also extremely good for individuals with diabetes, as the low GI types of food are beneficial in minimizing increases in blood sugar levels.

The Zone Diet
The Zone diet is a nutrition and weightloss system initially devised by Barry Sears in a number of books. The Zone diet is not specifically a weight loss diet, although many zone diet followers believe that they actually seem to lose body weight by following the zone diet.
The main theory of the Zone Diet is that if one can gain control of the amount of two key hormones, (insulin and glucogen), then anti-inflammatory chemicals are released which puts your body in a state of equilibrium which is much, much more healthy than other diets, this is referred to as 'the zone'.
Sears states that if you get into this 'zone', your metabolism is working at its best and, as a consequence, doesn't build up fat.
The main process of the diet is to maintain the exact ratio of carbohydrates to proteins, and to ensure you get increased amounts of Omega 3 fish oils.

The South Beach Diet
The South Beach diet is a diet system created by Miami-based cardiologist arthur agatston which emphasizes that one should eat "good carbohydrates" instead of "bad carbohydrates" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats"
Doctor agatston developed this diet as an aid to patients with heart conditions, as a consequence of his detailed study of scientific data on other weight loss regimes.
Examples of good foods include, lean beef, turkey breast, fish and shellfish, provolone cheese, peanuts, eggs and some vegatables, such as asparagus, cucumbers and water chestnuts.

"A good cook is the peculiar gift of the gods. He must be a perfect creature from the brain to the palate, from the palate to the finger's end.
"Walter Savage Landor"

"A diet is the penalty we pay for exceeding the feed limit."

"Reality check: you can never, ever, use weight loss to solve problems that are not related to your weight. At your goal weight or not, you still have to live with yourself and deal with your problems. You will still have the same husband, the same job, the same kids, and the same life. Losing weight is not a cure for life"
Phillip C. McGraw
