Diet information

The Atkins’ Diet
Now nearly 5 decades old, the famous atkins diet achieved most of its fame during the last few years. Although not accepted by all scientists, it allows fat reduction whilst allowing many of the foods you love, eg fatty meat and hard cheeses.
Unlike other diets, with the atkins diet you eat protein and fat, it is the carbs that are on the banned list. It is referred to as a low carb/high protein, diet.
With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, including cereals and pasta made from white flour.
On the atkins diet the foods you are encouraged to eat continues to be nutrient-rich unprocessed foods such as meat, fish and, as a consequence, poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter and olive oil.

The Zone Diet
The Zone diet is a nutrition and weight loss system first created by Barry Sears in a series of books, publications and an accompanying website. The Zone diet is not expressly a fat reduction diet, although many zone diet followers find that they really seem to lose body weight by following it.
The supposed science behind the Zone Diet is that if you can limit the amount of two key hormones, (insulin and glucogen), then anti-inflammatory chemicals are released which, as a consequence puts your body in a state of balance that is much, much more wholesome than usual, this is referred to as 'the zone'.
Sears claims that if you get into this 'zone', your metabolism is working at its best and, as a result, doesn't build up layers of fat.
The main method of the zone diet is to monitor and control the ratio of carbs to proteins, and to make sure your diet has plenty of Omega 3 and omega 6.

"A diet is the penalty we pay for exceeding the feed limit."

"Reality check: you can never, ever, use weight loss to solve problems that are not related to your weight. At your goal weight or not, you still have to live with yourself and deal with your problems. You will still have the same husband, the same job, the same kids, and the same life. Losing weight is not a cure for life"
