Lycopene super foods (includes melon, red peppers and rosehip) The chemical lypcopene is a non-synthetic coloring agent and a member of the same group of phytochemicals as carotene. This chemical is the reason for the red hue of a good number of types of food. Usefully, unlike many other nutrients, this useful phytochemical does not become less effective if heated during cooking, but is genuinely improved by cooking. . Lycoprene's main nutritional contribution is that it behaves as an antioxidant and is believed to be an asset in the fight to reduce the probabilty of developing cancer. Lycopene is the most potent carotenoid quencher of singlet oxygen, which is linked with aging of the skin. It's also thought to prevent the progression of diseases affecting arterial blood vessels. The Glycaemic Index Diet The gi (or glycaemic index) weight loss regime is reliant on the gi (or glycaemic index), a list showing food types and a score illustrating the speed that the glucose and energy in the food type gets changed to glucose in your system. The theory is that long-acting types of food (ie those foods with a low Gi score), keep you satiated for longer and help to eat less food without feeling you are always hungry. It is also extremely beneficial for folk with diabetes, as the low GI types of food are useful in minimizing rises in glucose levels. |
