The Zone Diet
The Zone diet is a diet system first suggested by Barry Sears in a number of books. The Zone diet isn’t expressly a fat reduction diet, however many people believe that they really seem to lose body weight by following the zone diet. The main scientific theory behind the Zone Diet is that if you control the amount of insulin and glucogen (both hormones), then anti-inflammatory chemicals are released which, as a result puts your body in a balanced state that is much more healthful than normal, which is known as the zone. Sears believes that when your body is in this 'zone' it is perfectly balanced and, because of this, does not need to convert surplus energy to fat. The most interesting process of the diet is to keep tight control over the ratio of carbohydrates to proteins, and to ensure you get plenty of Omega 6 and omega 3 fish oils. Low calorie diet Put simply, the low-cal diet is based on the fact that in order to achieve weight loss, the important thing to eat fewer calories than you actually use. Definition of a calorie? The calorie is the standard unit for energy measurement in dieting. The calorie is the the amount of energy required to raise the temperature of 1 gram of water by 1 degree centigrade at atmospheric pressure. If something has higher calories, then it will gives you a larger amount of energy when it is eaten. Low-cal food types include fresh green beans, carrots, melon, low fat ham, and low-fat cheese. Healthy foods with carotenes (includes carrots, collard greens and tomato ketchup) These amazing healthy plants are rich in carotenes (alpha and beta) believed by nutritionalists to play a role in minimising the risk of cancer, particularly of the stomach and lesophagus. Many also have a low calorie count, so should be a part of every diet. |
