Weight loss diets

The Glycaemic Index Diet
The gi index nutrition and weight loss system is based around the gi index, a list of types of food and a score representing the ease with which the glucose and energy in the food type gets converted to glucose in your blood stream. The claim is that long-acting food types (ie those with a low Glycaemic index score), suppress your appetite and mean that you can eat less food without being miserabl;e.
It is also very good for people with diabetes, as the low GI food types are beneficial in preventing rises in blood sugar levels.

The Zone Diet
The Zone diet is a nutrition system initially devised by Barry Sears in a number of books and publications. The Zone diet is not specifically a fat reduction diet, however many 'zone dieters' claim that they really manage to lose weight by following the zone diet.
The theory behind the Zone Diet is that if you can control the levels of insulin and glucogen (two hormones produced naturally by your body), then anti-inflammatory chemicals are released which, in turn puts the body in a state of equilibrium which is an awful lot more healthy than it normally is, which followers of the diet, refer to as '"he zone".
Sears claims that when your body is in this 'zone' it is much more efficient and, as a result, doesn't build up fat.
The main method of the zone diet is to control the precise ratio of carbs to proteins, and to take high levels of Omega 6 and omega 3 fish oils.

The South Beach Diet
The South Beach diet is a diet created by Miami-based cardiologist arthur agatston which encourages the consumption of "good carbohydrates" instead of "bad carbohydrates" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats"
Doctor agatston invented his system as an aid to patients with heart conditions, based on his detailed analysis of scientific studies on other weight loss regimes.
Good foods include, lean beef, chicken breast, seafood, parmesan cheese, peanut butter, nonfat milk and certain vegetables, such as green beans, celery and spinach.

"A good cook is the peculiar gift of the gods. He must be a perfect creature from the brain to the palate, from the palate to the finger's end.
"Walter Savage Landor"

"A diet is the penalty we pay for exceeding the feed limit."

"Reality check: you can never, ever, use weight loss to solve problems that are not related to your weight. At your goal weight or not, you still have to live with yourself and deal with your problems. You will still have the same husband, the same job, the same kids, and the same life. Losing weight is not a cure for life"
Phillip C. McGraw
