Ingredients
1/2 lb chicken thigh fillets, chopped
2 oz reduced-fat feta cheese, mashed
1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
1 round won ton or gow gee wrappers
1 spinach and sultanas:
20 spinach leaves, shredded
1 red pepper, sliced
1 carrot, chopped (julienne)
1/4 cup sultanas
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 tbsp flaked almonds
1/3 cup buttermilk
Directions
Servings: 2
Dumplings:
Blend or process chicken, cheese, cinnamon and parsley until mixture
is almost smooth. Place a teaspoon of mixture onto centre of each
wrapper, brush edges with water, gather edges together to form a
pouch. Add dumplings to large pan of boiling water, simmer,uncovered,
for about 8 minutes or until cooked through, drain. Serve with
spinach and sultanas.
Spinach and Sultanas: Combine spinach, pepper and carrot in
non-stick pan, cook, covered until pepper is soft. Stir in
sultanas,juice, almonds and buttermilk, stir until hot.
Total fat: 22 g Fat per serving: 11 g

The Glycaemic Index Diet
The gi (or glycaemic index) weight loss program is based on the gi (or glycaemic index), a list of foods and a score illustrating the ease that the carbohydrates of the food gets changed to sugar in your system. The claim is that slow acting foods (ie those foods with a low Gi number), keep you satiated for longer and help to injest less food without feeling hungry. It is also beneficial for people with diabetes, as the low GI types of food are helpful in managing rises in blood sugar amount. Low calorie diet Put simply, the low calorie diet says that if you want to get rid of some fat, the most important step is to take in less calories than you need. Definition of a calorie? The calorie is a unit for measuring food's ability to produce heat and energy. The food calorie is the the amount of energy required to raise the temperature of one gram of water by one degree celsius. If a meal contains more calories, then it will gives you a larger amount of energy when your body converts it. Low calorie foods include green beans, cabbage, grapefruit, canadian bacon, and eggs. Foods containing allyl sulfides ( includes garlic, onions and welsh onion) The onion, leek and garlic family is high in allyl sulphides, a chemical which experts believe might be linked to a reduced risk of stomach and colon cancer. Although there is not much scientific evidence published, allyl sulfides are also thought by nutritionalists to reduce symptoms with blood circulation, arteriosclerosis and physical exhaustion. Foods containing allyl sulfides are also low in calories, so should be included in your diet system. |
