The Zone Diet
The Zone diet is a diet initially devised by Barry Sears in a series of books and publications. The Zone diet is not expressly a weight loss diet, but many people believe that they actually seem to lose a few pounds by following it.
The theory behind the Zone Diet is that if one can manage to limit the amount of insulin and glucogen (two hormones produced naturally by your body), then your body releases eicosanoids (anti-inflamatory chemicals) which puts the body in a state of equilibrium that is more healthy than usual, this is referred to as 'the zone'.
Sears states that a body that is in 'the zone' is perfectly balanced and, as a result, doesn't convert energy to unsightly fat.
The most important procedure of the zone system is to keep tight control over the ratio of carbs to proteins, and to take increased levels of Omega 3 and omega 6.

The Glycaemic Index Diet
The glycaemic index diet system is reliant on the gi (or glycaemic index), a list of food types and a score illustrating the ease that the carbs of the food type gets transformed to glucose in your system. The claim is that slow acting types of food (ie those with a low Gi number), suppress your appetite for longer and help you to injest less food without feeling hungry.
It is also extremely efficient for people with diabetes, as the low GI types of food are useful in minimizing rises in glucose amount.

Lycopene superfoods
(includes apricot, red bell peppers & rosehip)

The chemical lypcopene is a natural coloring compound and member of the carotenid family of phytochemicals. Lycopene is the reason for the red color of many food types.

Fortunately, unlike numerous other healthy agents, this useful phytochemical is not damaged during the cooking process, but is in fact enhanced by going through the cooking process.

. Lycoprene's most important medical value is that it is an antioxidant and is believed to help lower the risk of cancer.

It is the most potent remover of singlet oxygen, which is linked with skin aging. It is also thought by many experts to slow down the progression of diseases affecting arterial blood vessels.

"A good cook is the peculiar gift of the gods. He must be a perfect creature from the brain to the palate, from the palate to the finger's end.

"A diet is the penalty we pay for exceeding the feed limit."

"Reality check: you can never, ever, use weight loss to solve problems that are not related to your weight. At your goal weight or not, you still have to live with yourself and deal with your problems. You will still have the same husband, the same job, the same kids, and the same life. Losing weight is not a cure for life"
