Foods containing allyl sulfides
( includes garlic, onions and green onion) The onion family of foods is rich in allyl sulphides, a chemical which experts believe might be linked to a reduced risk of stomach and colon cancer. Even though there is not enough, real proof published, allyl sulfides are also thought by many researchers to reduce problems with blood circulation, high blood pressure and fatigue. Foods containing allyl sulfides also help you lose weight, so you should add them to your weight loss program. Foods rich in flavonoids (inlcudes garlic, broccoli, lima bean and tea) The large family of compounds known as flavonoids discovered in these foods are thought to have properties in preventing cancer. Doctors studying the properties of flavonoids suspect that they may well have numerous healthy properties, amongst them, anti-asthma and anti-platelet properties. The majority of these also have a low calorie count, so make sure you add them to your diet. The Zone Diet The Zone diet is a diet system initially invented by Barry Sears in a series of books, publications and an associated web site. The Zone diet isn’t exactly a fat reduction diet, but many 'zone dieters' believe that they manage to lose weight when following it. The theory behind the Zone Diet is that if you control the secretion of two important hormones, (insulin and glucogen), then your body releases eicosanoids which, as a consequence puts the body in a balanced state which is an awful lot more wholesome than other diets, which followers of the diet, refer to as '"he zone". Sears states that when in the 'zone', your body is working at its most efficient and, because of this, does not convert energy to unsightly fat. The most important process of the zone diet is to monitor and control the exact ratio of carbohydrates to proteins, and to ensure your diet has increased amounts of Omega 3 and omega 6. |
