Types of diet

The Zone Diet
The Zone diet is a nutrition and weightloss system first suggested by Barry Sears in a number of books and publications. The Zone diet isn’t distinctly a fat reduction diet, but many zone diet followers discover that they really seem to lose a few pounds when following it.
The main theory behind the Zone Diet is that if you manage to control the secretion of insulin and glucogen (both hormones), then anti-inflammatory chemicals are released which, in turn puts your body in a state of balance which is much more healthful than other diets, which is known as the zone.
Sears alleges that if you get into this 'zone', your body is working at its most efficient and, because of this, doesn't build up fat.
The main process of the diet is to keep tight control over the exact ratio of carbohydrates to proteins, and to dose yourself with large amounts of Omega 3 fish oils.

The South Beach Diet
The South Beach diet is a diet started by Miami, florida-area cardiologist arthur agatston which emphasizes that one should consume "good carbohydrates" instead of "bad carbs" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats"
Dr. agatston developed his nutritional system for people who have cardiac problems, based on his detailed analysis of scientific research completed on other weight loss regimes.
Approved foods include, lean beef, chicken breast, prawns, feta cheese, pistachio nuts, lowfat or nonfat milk and certain vegetables, such as chickpeas, collard greens and mushrooms.

The Atkins’ Diet
Developed by dr. robert atkins in the 1960s, the famous atkins diet is still widely used today. Although highly controversial, it claims to allow fat reduction but still allows you to eat many foods that are not normally available to dieters, for example meat and butter.
With this diet it is considered good to eat fat and protein, it is the carbs that are on the banned list. Because of this, it is known as a high protein, low carb, nutrition system.
With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, including cereals and pasta made from white flour.
Unlike other diets, with the atkins diet the foods you are encouraged to eat are still nutrient-rich unprocessed foods such as meat, fish and, as a result, poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter and olive oil.

"A good cook is the peculiar gift of the gods. He must be a perfect creature from the brain to the palate, from the palate to the finger's end.
"Walter Savage Landor"

"A diet is the penalty we pay for exceeding the feed limit."

"Reality check: you can never, ever, use weight loss to solve problems that are not related to your weight. At your goal weight or not, you still have to live with yourself and deal with your problems. You will still have the same husband, the same job, the same kids, and the same life. Losing weight is not a cure for life"
Phillip C. McGraw
