The Atkins’ Diet
First invented by doctor atkins in the sixities, the popular atkins diet is still one of the most popular diets today. Although highly controversial, it enables fat reduction whilst still eating many foods that are not normally available to dieters, eg bacon and some dairy produce.
On the atkins diet it is considered good to eat fat and protein, avoiding carbohydrates almost completely. It is often referred to as a low carb/high protein, weight loss program.
With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, amongst them, cereals and pasta made from white flour.
Unlike other diets, with the atkins diet the foods you are encouraged to eat are still nutrient-rich unprocessed foods such as meat, fish & poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter & olive oil.

The Atkins’ Diet Theory
The 'science' behind the atkins diet is that if we take in less carbs, we will burn up the fat we have stored and we will diet successfully

The Zone Diet
The Zone diet is a diet system initially devised by Barry Sears in a number of books. The Zone diet isn’t exactly a weight loss diet, but many 'zone dieters' claim that they manage to lose weight by following the zone diet.
The theory behind the Zone Diet is that if you manage to control the amount of the hormones 'insulin' and 'glucogen', then anti-inflammatory chemicals are released which puts the body in a state of balance that is far more wholesome than other diets, which is known as the zone.
Sears claims that when your body is in this 'zone' it is working at its best and, as a consequence, doesn't need to build up stores of fat.
The key process of the system is to control the ratio of carbs to proteins, and to take increased levels of Omega 3 and omega 6.

"Reality check: you can never, ever, use weight loss to solve problems that are not related to your weight. At your goal weight or not, you still have to live with yourself and deal with your problems. You will still have the same husband, the same job, the same kids, and the same life. Losing weight is not a cure for life"
