Lycopene foods (includes apricots, red peppers & spiny bitter gourd) Lycopene is a simple chemical compound and part of the same family of phytochemicals as carotene. This chemical is accountable for the red color of many fruit, vegetables and pulses. Intrestingly, unlike numerous vitamins, it is not damaged during the cooking process, but is essentially made more effective by being cooked. . Its main nutritional contribution is that it serves as an antioxidant and appears to help to reduce the risks of developing cancer. It is the most efficacious eliminator of singlet oxygen, which is connected with skin aging. It's also thought by many researchers to prevent the growth of atherosclerosis. Foods containing allyl sulfides ( includes eschalot, chives and spring onions) The onion and garlic family of foods is rich in allyl sulphides, a chemical which experts believe may be linked to a reduced risk of stomach and colon cancer. Even though there is very little definitive proof present, allyl sulfides are also thought by nutritionalists to reduce the symptoms of colds, arteriosclerosis and fatigue. Foods containing allyl sulfides also help you lose weight, so should be included in every weight loss program. Low calorie diet In simple terms, a low calorie weight loss regime is based on the fact that if you are going to lose weight, the most important step is to eat fewer calories than you actually use. What is a calorie? A calorie is a measurement of the energy provided by food. The calorie is the the amount of energy required to raise the temperature of 1 gram of water by 1 degree centigrade at atmospheric pressure. If something has higher calories, then it will turn into more energy to use when eaten. Low calorie food types include bok choy, radishes, water melon, low fat ham, and white eggs. |
