Weight loss dietsThe Atkins’ Diet Originating way back in the 1960s, the popular atkins diet has been one of the most popular weight loss systems over the last few years. Popular with many famous celebrities, it supposedly allows weight loss whilst allowing many of the foods you love, like bacon and eggs. On the atkins diet you eat protein and fat, it is the carbs that must be avoided. Because of this, it is known as a low carbohydrate, high protein, nutrition and weight loss system. With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, including cereals and pasta made from white flour. Unlike other diets, with the atkins diet the foods you are encouraged to eat continues to be nutrient-rich unprocessed foods like meat, fish and, as a consequence, poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter and, as a result, olive oil. The Atkins’ Diet Theory The logic of the atkins diet is that if we cut down on carbohydrates, our bodies will use up the fat we already carry and we will become thinner The Zone Diet The Zone diet is a nutrition system initially detailed by Barry Sears in a series of books, publications and an associated website. The Zone diet isn’t expressly a fat reduction diet, but many zone diet followers claim that they really lose weight by following the zone diet. The supposed science behind the Zone Diet is that if you manage to limit the secretion of two key hormones, (insulin and glucogen), then your body releases eicosanoids (anti-inflamatory chemicals) which, as a result puts the body in a balanced state that is a lot more wholesome than other diets, which followers of the diet, refer to as '"he zone". Sears claims that a body that is in 'the zone' is much more efficient and, as a consequence, doesn't build up fat. The key technique of the system is to keep tight control over the precise ratio of carbohydrates to proteins, and to take increased levels of Omega 6 and omega 3 fish oils. The South Beach Diet The South Beach diet is a diet plan created by Florida-based cardiologist arthur agatston which encourages the consumption of "good carbohydrates" instead of "bad carbs" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats" Agatston invented his dietary regime for his cardiac patients, as a result of his detailed study of scientific studies completed on other nutritional studies. "good" foods include, broiled ham, skinless poultry, prawns, mozzarella cheese, peanuts, lowfat milk and some vegatables, like artichokes, eggplant and water chestnuts. |
