Diet Cathys Marinated Chicken Recipe brought to you by Diet Recipes To-Go
Types of dietThe Zone Diet The Zone diet is a nutrition system initially advocated by Barry Sears in a series of books, publications and an accompanying website. The Zone diet is not particularly a fat reduction diet, nevertheless many zone diet followers believe that they seem to lose a few pounds by following the zone diet. The 'science' behind the Zone Diet is that if one can gain control of the levels of two important hormones, (insulin and glucogen), then your body releases eicosanoids (anti-inflamatory chemicals) which, in turn puts your body in a balanced state that is far more wholesome than usual, known as the 'zone'. Sears alleges that when your body is in this 'zone' it is much more efficient and, as a result, does not need to convert surplus energy to fat. The main process of the zone system is to control the exact ratio of carbs to proteins, and to ensure your diet has plenty of Omega 6 and omega 3 fish oils. The Glycaemic Index Diet The gi index nutrition and weight loss system is reliant on the gi index, a chart showing foods and a score illustrating the speed that the glucose and energy of the food type gets converted to sugar in your blood stream. The believe is that slow release food types (ie those with a low Glycaemic score), suppress your appetite for longer and help to eat less food without feeling you are missing out. It's also very good for diabetes sufferers, as the low GI foods are beneficial in preventing increases in blood glucose secretion. |
