Weight loss systems


The Glycaemic Index Diet
The gi index nutrition and weightloss system is linked to the glycaemic index, a list of types of food and an indicator of the rapidity that the glucose of the food gets converted to glucose in the dieters system. The claim is that long-acting food types (ie those with a low Gi number), keep you satisfied for a longer period of time and help you to cut down on food without starving yourself.
It's also extremely beneficial for folk with diabetes, as the low GI food types are beneficial in minimizing rises in blood glucose levels.


The Atkins’ Diet
Originating way back in the 1960s, the popular atkins diet has been one of the most popular weight loss systms over the last few years. Popular with many famous celebrities, it claims to allow fat reduction but still allows you to eat many foods that are not normally available to dieters, such as beef and butter.
On the atkins diet it is considered good to eat fat and protein, it is the carbs that are on the banned list. It is referred to as a low carb/high protein, nutrition and weightloss system.
With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, including cereals and pasta made from white flour.
Unlike other diets, with the atkins diet the foods you are encouraged to eat are nutrient-rich unprocessed foods such as meat, fish and, as a result, poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter and olive oil.

The Atkins’ Diet Theory
The theory of the atkins diet is that if we eat less carbs, we will consume the fat we have stored and we will lose weight




The South Beach Diet
The South Beach diet is a diet plan started by Florida-based cardiologist arthur agatston which encourages that dieters should eat "good carbs" instead of "bad carbohydrates" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats"
Agatston developed his nutritional system for his cardiac patients, based on his detailed study of scientific data on other dietary studies.
Good foods include, lean cuts of beef, turkey breast, shrimp, feta cheese, peanut butter, lowfat or nonfat milk and some vegatables, like kidney beans, eggplant and mushrooms.
