The Zone Diet
The Zone diet is a weight loss program initially detailed by Barry Sears in a number of books, publications and an associated website. The Zone diet isn’t exactly a weight reduction diet, but some people claim that they really reduce weight by following this system. The supposed science behind the Zone Diet is that if one can limit the amount of insulin and glucogen (both hormones), then anti-inflammatory chemicals are released which, as a result puts the body in a balanced state that is an awful lot more healthful than normal, which is known as the zone. Sears alleges that if you get into this 'zone', your metabolism is perfectly balanced and, as a consequence, does not build up fat. The most valuable technique of the zone diet is to control the exact ratio of carbs to proteins, and to make sure your diet has increased levels of Omega 6 and omega 3 fish oils. Foods containing allyl sulfides ( includes eschalot, white onions and green onion) The onion family of foods is rich in allyl sulfides, a chemical which experts believe could be linked to a reduced risk of stomach and colon cancer. Even though there is too little definitive proof published, allyl sulfides are also thought to reduce problems with colds, arteriosclerosis and insomnia. Foods containing allyl sulfides also have a low calorie count, so should be included in your weight loss regime. |
