Ingredients
1 nonstick vegetable spray
1 cup flour
2 tbsp wheat germ, toasted
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
2 tsp brown sugar substitute
1 tsp cinnamon
1/8 tsp cloves
1/8 tsp nutmeg
1 1/3 cup carrots, shredded
1/2 cup raisins, soaked in hot water
2 eggs
2 tbsp vegetable oil
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 F. Spray muffin tins. (My suggestion: spray
paper muffin cups - low fat muffins tend to stick.)
Combine dry ingredients in a large bowl. Stir in carrots and drained
raisins.
Beat eggs with oil. Stir into flour mixture. Divide batter evenly
among 12 tins. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until toothpick inserted in
center of muffin comes out clean.
1 muffin - 105 cal, 1 starch, 1/2 fat exchange 3 grams protein, 4
grams fat, 16 grams carbohydrate, 1 gram fiber 213 mg sodium, 118 mg
potassium, 46 mg cholesterol

Low calorie diet
Rather obviously, the low-cal diet states that in order to diet successfully, it is essential to injest less calories than your body normally needs. So what is a calorie? The calorie is the standard unit for energy measurement in dieting. A calorie is the the energy required to increase the temperature of 1 gram of water by 1 degree centigrade at normal atmospheric pressure. If your meal contains more calories, then it will will give you a larger amount of energy when your body burns it. Foods low in calories include green beans, watercress, guava, low fat hot-dogs, and white eggs. The South Beach Diet The South Beach diet is a weight loss system invented by Dr. arthur agatston which stresses that one should consume "good carbs" instead of "bad carbohydrates" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats" Dr. agatston invented his weight loss system for people who have cardiac problems, as a result of his analysis of scientific research on other dietary studies. Good foods include, lean cuts of beef, skinless poultry, fish, fat free cheese, pecan halves, eggs and certain vegetables, like kidney beans, cauliflower and turnips. Flavonoid superfoods (inlcudes olive oil, kohlrabi, garden pea and tea) The compounds known as flavonoids which exist in these foods are thought by nutritionalists to have properties in preventing cancer. Doctors researching the medical effects of flavonoids suspect that they also have most other benefits to our health, including, but not limited to, anti-candida and anti-platelet powers. Most also have a low calorie count, so are ideal for including in your weight loss regime. |
