The Zone Diet
The Zone diet is a weight loss regime primarily created by Barry Sears in a number of books, publications and an accompanying website. The Zone diet is not expressly a weight reduction diet, although many zone diet fans claim that they actually lose body weight by following it. The main theory of the Zone Diet is that if you can limit the amount of two important hormones, (insulin and glucogen), then anti-inflammatory chemicals are released which puts the body in a balanced state which is more healthy than normal, this is referred to as 'the zone'. Sears states that when in the 'zone', your body is perfectly balanced and, because of this, does not build up fat. The most interesting technique of the zone system is to monitor and control the exact ratio of carbohydrates to proteins, and to make sure your diet has high levels of Omega 3 and omega 6. Flavonoid foods (inlcudes onion, red apples, garden pea & chamomile) The flavonoids discovered in these fruit and vegetables are believed to have properties in fighting cancer. Researchers researching the medical effects of flavonoids believe that they may also have most other healthy properties, amongst them, anti-viral and antitumor activities.. The majority of these are also low in calories, so make sure you add them to your weight loss regime. |
