Diet Calcium Rich Orange French Toast With Honey Recipe brought to you by Diet Recipes To-Go
Diet informationThe Atkins’ Diet First invented by doctor atkins in the 1960s, the atkins diet achieved most of its fame during the last decade. Although highly controversial, it supposedly allows fat reduction whilst allowing you to eat many foods that would not be part of a normal diet, eg fatty meat and butter. With this diet you eat protein and fat, it is carbohydrates that need to be avoided. It is referred to as a high protein, low carb, nutrition and weight loss system. With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, including cereals and pasta made from white flour. With the atkins diet the foods you are encouraged to eat are nutrient-rich unprocessed foods such as meat, fish and, as a consequence, poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter and, as a consequence, olive oil. The Atkins’ Diet Theory The 'science' behind the atkins diet is that although our bodies use both fats and carbs to burn into glucose and energy, it is the carbs that are burned initially. If we cut down on carbs, our bodies will use our stored fat and we will reduce weight. Although tempting, the atkins diet is divisive, not all researchers concur and a few allege that it might be risky. The Glycaemic Index Diet The gi index nutrition system is based around the gi (or glycaemic index), a list showing foods and a score illustrating the rapidity that the energy of the food type gets converted to glucose in the dieters bloodstream. The theory is that slow acting food types (ie those with a low Gi number), will keep you feeling full for longer and mean that you can reduce your consumption of food without feeling hungry. It is also extremely good for diabetics, as the low GI foods are beneficial in minimizing increases in glucose levels. |
