The South Beach Diet
The South Beach diet is a diet plan created by Miami, florida-area cardiologist arthur agatston which stresses that dieters should be eating "good carbohydrates" instead of "bad carbs" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats" Agatston invented the south beach diet as an aid to patients with heart conditions, as a consequence of his detailed study of scientific research completed on other dietary studies. Examples of good foods include, lean cuts of beef, chicken breast, shrimp, parmesan cheese, peanut butter, nonfat milk and some vegatables, like green beans, cucumbers and turnips. Foods containing allyl sulfides ( includes pickled shallots, leeks and spring onions) The onion family of foods is rich in allyl sulfides, a chemical which experts believe may be linked to a reduced risk of stomach and colon cancer. Although there is little scientific evidence obtainable, allyl sulphides are also thought by many experts to aid in blood circulation, arteriosclerosis and physical exhaustion. Foods containing allyl sulfides are also good for weight loss, so should be included in every weight loss regime. |
