Ingredients
CAKE LAYER
1/2 cup unsalted butter, 1 stick at room temperatu
1/2 cup margarine, 1 stick at room temperatu
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1/4 tsp salt
BROWNIE LAYER
1/2 cup unsalted butter, 1 stick at room temperatu
1/2 cup margarine, 1 stick at room temperatu
3 sqs. unsweetered chocolate, (1 oz each)
2 large eggs
3/4 cup granulated sugar
3 tbsp all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
Directions
CAKE LAYER: Heat oven 350 degrees. Grease an 11" X 17" baking pan. In
food processor or with eledtric mixer, process or beat the butter,
flour, sugar and salt until mixture holds together and forms a dough.
Press over bottom of pan. Bake 20 minutes or until light golden and
firm when touched. BROWNIE LAYER: Heat butter and chocolate in a
small saucepan over low heat, stirring often, until melted. Cook 5
minutes. In a medium-size bowl, whisk eggs, sugar, flour and baking
powder until blended. Whisk in cooled chocolate mixture. Pour over
shortbread base. Bake 20 minutes or until top feels firm. Cool in
pan before cutting in bars. Food Exchanges per serving: 1

The Zone Diet
The Zone diet is a diet system primarily detailed by Barry Sears in a series of books, publications and an associated website. The Zone diet isn’t expressly a fat reduction diet, however some people believe that they actually lose a few pounds by following the zone diet. The theory behind the Zone Diet is that if you manage to control the secretion of insulin and glucogen (both hormones), then your body releases eicosanoids which puts one's body in a state of balance that is much, much more healthful than other diets, this is referred to as 'the zone'. Sears states that when your body is in this 'zone' it is perfectly balanced and, as a result, doesn't need to build up stores of fat. The most interesting process of the diet is to keep tight control over the exact ratio of carbohydrates to proteins, and to take high levels of Omega 3 and omega 6. The South Beach Diet The South Beach diet is a weight loss system started by Florida-based cardiologist arthur agatston which encourages that one should eat "good carbs" instead of "bad carbohydrates" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats" Dr. agatston invented the south beach diet for people who have heart disease, based on his analysis of scientific research completed on other weight loss studies. Good foods include, lean beef, turkey breast, fish and shellfish, feta cheese, peanut butter, nonfat yoghurt and certain vegetables, such as asparagus, lettuce and water chestnuts. Superfoods rich in flavonoids (inlcudes olive oil, kohlrabi, kidney bean and dill) The compounds known as flavonoids discovered in these fruit and vegetables are believed to be good as cancer fighters. Medical experts who have been studying the medical effects of flavonoids suspect that they also have many other healthy benefits, amongst them, anti-dermatitis and antitumor capabilities. The majority of these also help you lose weight, so should be included in your weight loss program. |
