Types of diet

The Atkins’ Diet
Now nearly 5 decades old, the atkins diet has been one of the most popular weight loss systms over the last few years. Although not accepted by all scientists, it supposedly allows weight reduction whilst allowing you to eat foods that are normally considered bad for diets, for example beef and butter.
With this diet you are supposed to eat fat and protein, avoiding carbohydrates almost completely. Because of this, it is known as a low carb/high protein, nutrition system.
With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, including cereals and pasta made from white flour.
Unlike other diets, on the atkins diet the foods you are encouraged to eat continues to be nutrient-rich unprocessed foods such as meat, fish and poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter and, as a result, olive oil.

The Atkins’ Diet Theory
The 'science' behind the famous atkins diet is that if we cut down on carbohydrates, we will utilize the fat we have stored and we will lose weight

The Glycaemic Index Diet
The glycaemic index nutrition system is linked to the gi index, a list showing foods and a score illustrating the rapidity that the energy in the food type gets transformed to sugar in your bloodstream. The claim is that slow release foods (ie those with a low Glycaemic score), keep you feeling full longer and help to cut down on food without craving snacks all the time.
It's also beneficial for people with diabetes, as the low GI types of food are helpful in preventing rises in blood sugar secretion.

The South Beach Diet
The South Beach diet is a diet system started by Miami, florida-area cardiologist arthur agatston which emphasizes the consumption of "good carbohydrates" instead of "bad carbs" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats"
Agatston invented his weight loss system for his cardiac patients, as a consequence of his analysis of scientific data on other weight loss studies.
Good foods include, broiled ham, turkey breast, fish and shellfish, mozzarella cheese, peanuts, lowfat yoghurt and some vegatables, such as asparagus, cabbage and sprouts.

"A good cook is the peculiar gift of the gods. He must be a perfect creature from the brain to the palate, from the palate to the finger's end.
"Walter Savage Landor"

"A diet is the penalty we pay for exceeding the feed limit."

"Reality check: you can never, ever, use weight loss to solve problems that are not related to your weight. At your goal weight or not, you still have to live with yourself and deal with your problems. You will still have the same husband, the same job, the same kids, and the same life. Losing weight is not a cure for life"
Phillip C. McGraw
