The Zone Diet
The Zone diet is a diet initially devised by Barry Sears in a series of books, publications and an accompanying website. The Zone diet is not exactly a weight loss diet, although some people claim that they really reduce weight by following this system. The main theory behind the Zone Diet is that if you manage to control the levels of two important hormones, (insulin and glucogen), then your body releases eicosanoids which, in turn puts the body in a state of balance which is much, much more wholesome than usual, this is referred to as 'the zone'. Sears holds the theory that when in the 'zone', your body is perfectly balanced and, as a consequence, does not build up fat. The most important procedure of the diet is to maintain the exact ratio of carbs to proteins, and to make sure your diet has large amounts of Omega 3 fish oils.
