Weight loss diets

The Zone Diet
The Zone diet is a nutrition and weight loss system first devised by Barry Sears in a series of books, publications and an associated web site. The Zone diet isn’t exactly a fat reduction diet, however some people believe that they actually lose a few pounds when following it.
The science behind the Zone Diet is that if you can gain control of the secretion of two important hormones, (insulin and glucogen), then anti-inflammatory chemicals are released which, in turn puts your body in a balanced state that is much more healthful than normal, known as the 'zone'.
Sears believes that when your body is in this 'zone' it is perfectly balanced and, as a consequence, doesn't build up layers of fat.
The key method of the zone system is to monitor and control the exact ratio of carbs to proteins, and to ensure your diet has plenty of Omega 3 and omega 6.

The South Beach Diet
The South Beach diet is a diet system invented by Miami, florida-area cardiologist arthur agatston which encourages the consumption of "good carbohydrates" instead of "bad carbs" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats"
Doctor agatston invented his system for his cardiac patients, based on his detailed analysis of scientific data on other diets.
Examples of good foods include, broiled ham, turkey bacon, prawns, feta cheese, peanuts, nonfat milk and certain vegetables, like green beans, cabbage and mushrooms.

The Atkins’ Diet
First invented by doctor atkins in the 1960s, the atkins diet has been one of the most popular weight loss systems over the last few years. Although highly controversial, it allows weight reduction but still allows you to eat many foods that would not be part of a normal diet, eg fatty meat and eggs.
Unlike other diets, with the atkins diet you are supposed to eat fat and protein, it is the carbs that are on the banned list. Because of this, it is known as a low carb/high protein, nutrition and weightloss system.
With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, including cereals and pasta made from white flour.
With this diet the foods you are encouraged to eat are still nutrient-rich unprocessed foods like meat, fish and, as a consequence, poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter and, as a result, olive oil.

The Atkins’ Diet Theory
The logic of the famous atkins diet is that if we reduce your consumption of carbs, our bodies will utilise the fat we already carry and we will reduce weight

"A good cook is the peculiar gift of the gods. He must be a perfect creature from the brain to the palate, from the palate to the finger's end.
"Walter Savage Landor"

"A diet is the penalty we pay for exceeding the feed limit."

"Reality check: you can never, ever, use weight loss to solve problems that are not related to your weight. At your goal weight or not, you still have to live with yourself and deal with your problems. You will still have the same husband, the same job, the same kids, and the same life. Losing weight is not a cure for life"
Phillip C. McGraw
