Weight loss systems

The Atkins’ Diet
First invented by doctor atkins in the sixities, the popular atkins diet is still widely used today. Having many well known film stars amongst its supporters, it enables weight loss whilst allowing many of the foods you love, like bacon and hard cheeses.
On the atkins diet you are encouraged to eat meat and fat, avoiding carbohydrates almost completely. It is often referred to as a low carbohydrate/high protein, nutrition system.
With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, including cereals and pasta made from white flour.
With this diet the foods you are encouraged to eat continues to be nutrient-rich unprocessed foods like meat, fish and, as a result, poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter and, as a consequence, olive oil.

The Glycaemic Index Diet
The gi index diet is based around the gi index, a list showing foods and an indicator of the speed that the glucose and energy in the food type gets converted to sugar in the dieters system. The claim is that long-acting food types (ie with a low Glycaemic score), keep you satiated for longer and help to cut down on food without starving yourself.
It is also beneficial for individuals with diabetes, as the low GI foods are useful in preventing increases in blood glucose amount.

The South Beach Diet
The South Beach diet is a weight loss system started by Dr. arthur agatston which encourages that one should consume "good carbs" instead of "bad carbohydrates" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats"
Doctor agatston developed his weight loss regime for people who have heart disease, as a result of his detailed analysis of scientific research on other dietary studies.
"good" foods include, lean beef, turkey breast, fish and shellfish, mozzarella cheese, pistachios, eggs and some vegatables, like chickpeas, lettuce and snow peas.

"A good cook is the peculiar gift of the gods. He must be a perfect creature from the brain to the palate, from the palate to the finger's end.
"Walter Savage Landor"

"A diet is the penalty we pay for exceeding the feed limit."

"Reality check: you can never, ever, use weight loss to solve problems that are not related to your weight. At your goal weight or not, you still have to live with yourself and deal with your problems. You will still have the same husband, the same job, the same kids, and the same life. Losing weight is not a cure for life"
Phillip C. McGraw
