The South Beach Diet
The South Beach diet is a diet plan started by Cardiologist arthur agatston which encourages the consumption of "good carbs" instead of "bad carbs" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats"
Dr. agatston developed his weight loss system as an aid to patients with heart conditions, based on his detailed analysis of scientific data on other nutritional studies.
Examples of good foods include, broiled ham, chicken breast, shrimp, parmesan cheese, almonds, lowfat or nonfat milk and certain vegetables, such as kidney beans, celery and water chestnuts.


The Glycaemic Index Diet
The gi index nutrition and weightloss system is based around the gi index, a list of foods and a score illustrating the rapidity that the carbs of the food type gets transformed to glucose in the dieters system. The claim is that slow acting types of food (ie those food types with a low Gi number), suppress your appetite for longer and help you to reduce your intake of food without feeling you are always hungry.
It's also extremely good for diabetics, as the low GI types of food are useful in reducing rises in glucose secretion.
