Diet informationThe South Beach Diet The South Beach diet is a diet invented by Miami, florida-area cardiologist arthur agatston which encourages that one should eat "good carbohydrates" instead of "bad carbohydrates" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats" Agatston invented his weight loss system for his cardiac patients, based on his detailed study of scientific research on other weight loss regimes. Examples of good foods include, broiled ham, turkey bacon, seafood, cottage cheese, almonds, nonfat milk and certain vegetables, like split peas, lettuce and snow peas. The Atkins’ Diet Although it originated back in the 1960s, the famous atkins diet has been one of the most popular weight loss systms over the last few years. Having many well known film stars amongst its supporters, it supposedly allows weight reduction whilst allowing you to eat many foods that are not normally available to dieters, eg lamb and egg and cheese. Unlike other diets, on the atkins diet you eat protein and fat, it is the carbs that must be avoided. It is often referred to as a low carbohydrate/high protein, nutrition and weight loss system. With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, including cereals and pasta made from white flour. With the atkins diet the foods you are encouraged to eat are nutrient-rich unprocessed foods like meat, fish and, as a result, poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter and, as a result, olive oil. |
