The Zone Diet
The Zone diet is a diet initially invented by Barry Sears in a series of books, publications and an accompanying website. The Zone diet isn’t specifically a weight loss diet, however some people discover that they really lose weight by following it.
The main theory behind the Zone Diet is that if you manage to limit the secretion of insulin and glucogen (two hormones), then your body releases eicosanoids which puts your body in a state of balance that is far more healthy than usual, known as the 'zone'.
Sears holds the theory that if you get into this 'zone', your metabolism is perfectly balanced and, as a result, does not build up layers of fat.
The most interesting procedure of the system is to control the precise ratio of carbohydrates to proteins, and to take increased amounts of Omega 3 fish oils.

The South Beach Diet
The South Beach diet is a weight loss system created by Miami-based cardiologist arthur agatston which encourages that one should eat "good carbs" instead of "bad carbs" and "good fats" instead of "bad fats"
Doctor agatston invented his weight loss regime for people who have heart disease, as a result of his detailed analysis of scientific data completed on other dietary studies.
Examples of good foods include, broiled ham, turkey bacon, seafood, provolone cheese, peanuts, lowfat yoghurt and certain vegetables, such as lentils, collard greens and snow peas.

Superfoods containing carotenes
(includes paprika, collard greens and winter squash)
These colorful superfoods are rich in carotenes believed by nutritionalists play a key role in minimizing the risk of cancer, particularly of the esophagus. A good number are also low in calories, so should be included in every weight loss program.

"A good cook is the peculiar gift of the gods. He must be a perfect creature from the brain to the palate, from the palate to the finger's end.

"A diet is the penalty we pay for exceeding the feed limit."

"Reality check: you can never, ever, use weight loss to solve problems that are not related to your weight. At your goal weight or not, you still have to live with yourself and deal with your problems. You will still have the same husband, the same job, the same kids, and the same life. Losing weight is not a cure for life"
Phillip C. McGraw
