Types of diet

The Atkins’ Diet
First invented by doctor atkins in the 1960s, the atkins diet has been one of the most popular weight loss systms over the last few years. Having many well known film stars amongst its supporters, it enables weight reduction whilst allowing you to eat many foods that would not be part of a normal diet, for example fatty meat and cheeses.
With this diet it is considered good to eat fat and protein, avoiding carbohydrates almost completely. Because of this, it is known as a high protein, low carb, diet.
With this diet, the foods you should avoid are processed and refined sugar, milk, white bread, starchy vegetables, white rice and white flour, including cereals and pasta made from white flour.
With this diet the foods you are encouraged to eat are still nutrient-rich unprocessed foods like meat, fish and, as a result, poultry. You also can eat shellfish, regular full fat cheese, butter and, as a consequence, olive oil.

The Atkins’ Diet Theory
The logic of the atkins diet is that if we cut down on carbohydrates, we will consume our fat and we will lose weight

The Glycaemic Index Diet
The gi (or glycaemic index) nutrition and weight loss system is based on the glycaemic index, a list of types of food and an indicator of the speed with which the carbs of the food gets converted to glucose in the dieters blood stream. The theory is that slow release food types (ie those foods with a low Glycaemic index score), will keep you feeling full for longer and help you to cut down on food without feeling hungry.
It's also extremely effective for sufferers from diabetes, as the low GI types of food are helpful in reducing surges in blood sugar amount.

The Zone Diet
The Zone diet is a diet initially created by Barry Sears in a number of books and publications. The Zone diet isn’t particularly a weight reduction diet, but many people believe that they really lose body weight by following this system.
The science behind the Zone Diet is that if one can limit the amount of insulin and glucogen (two hormones), then your body releases eicosanoids which, in turn puts your body in a balanced state which is much more healthful than usual, this is referred to as 'the zone'.
Sears alleges that a body that is in 'the zone' is working at its best and, because of this, doesn't build up layers of fat.
The most important procedure of the zone system is to monitor and control the ratio of carbohydrates to proteins, and to ensure you get increased amounts of Omega 3 and omega 6.

"A good cook is the peculiar gift of the gods. He must be a perfect creature from the brain to the palate, from the palate to the finger's end.
"Walter Savage Landor"

"A diet is the penalty we pay for exceeding the feed limit."

"Reality check: you can never, ever, use weight loss to solve problems that are not related to your weight. At your goal weight or not, you still have to live with yourself and deal with your problems. You will still have the same husband, the same job, the same kids, and the same life. Losing weight is not a cure for life"
Phillip C. McGraw
